It started with a blog...


...and a basic sense of feeling fed-up with the stigma of menstruation.

This became my first Twitter campaign, #tweetyourperiod. I wanted to open a dialogue. I wanted to change the conversation, or lack thereof, about an event that over half the population goes through, has gone through, or will go through, monthly. It was important to me to be as open as possible, no matter how uncomfortable that might make me. The reaction has been overwhelmingly positive and galvanizing for this #RedSummer 2016 campaign:

I'm happy to report that #tweetyourperiod is still a very active hashtag, and I plan to use it indefinitely. Maybe in a few decades, I'll be using #tweetyourmenopause, but I'm not quite there yet. :)
